Externship Program
Externship Program
Spend a Summer Working
Anywhere in the World!!!
One of the most exciting programs, among the many offered by Alpha Omega, is the Summer Externship. It provides an opportunity for you to be exposed to the "real" world, both professionally and fraternally.
If you are accepted in the program, you will spend one or two weeks in an AO city in North America, Europe or Israel in the summer between your Junior and Senior years of dental school. During your stay, you will observe the latest clinical techniques being performed by general practitioners and specialists. If there is a city in which you want to have your externship that is not listed on the list of participating cities, please e-mail Mark Luria (see below) and he will help you arrange an externship in your desired location. The possibilities are endless!!!
This program was developed to help you meet fraters in cities that you are considering either moving to or expose you to the area of specialty that you are considering. The exact makeup of the externship will be dictated by the local alumni chapter. International has no control as to the exact mechanism of each alumni chapter's externship program.
Even when you aren't in the office, you will experience the true fraternalism of Alpha Omega. Very often students are hosted for dinner and social activities by local fraters and their families. In your free time, you can tour the area and make new and lasting friendships.
We invite you to apply for the session being organized for the summer of 2006. Guidelines for acceptance include your grades and references, and especially participation in your student chapter . APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER 2008 ARE DUE ON FEBRUARY 28, 2008.
The Alpha Omega Summer Externship Program is a rare opportunity for you. You will learn dentistry, feel true fraternalism, and see another part of the country or world. We promise an experience you will never forget.
Please understand that all transportation costs are your own responsibility. In addition, although every effort will be made to arrange housing either with local fraters or at a moderate cost facility such as a university dormitory, accommodations are in no way guaranteed . You should be aware of this consideration when selecting the city in which you wish to attend the program. Every city except Toronto, Detroit and Washington, D.C. limits the number of externships to two (Seattle accepts only one). Every year we receive many more applications than positions available. If you have some flexibility then we should be able to place you somewhere.
